The Stiftung trias is a non-profit foundation supporting cooperative and ecological housing projects as well as reforms concerning ownership of ground and property. trias studies, finances and networks collaborative housing across Germany, focusing on self-organised projects including ecological building methods.
The Foundation has been working closely since 2002 with organisations like id22 and experimentcity locally and nationally to not only gain attention for community-orientated housing but support housing. Projects in a general way. Activities include a wide range of events and seminars, relevant publications and an online database documenting such housing projects across the country. Please see: www.wohnprojekte-portal.de
Stiftung
trias considers its task in maintaining the general level of the movement but
does not have the personal capacity to support single projects on their way of
development. In Germany project consulting is considered to be a commercial
job.
Educational projects include a wide range of events and seminars, relevant
publications and an online database documenting such housing projects across
the country: www.wohnprojekte-portal.de
Stiftung trias is allowed to give direct support to collaborative housing
projects if it is a not for profit project (in terms of german tax regulations)
General situation:
Stiftung
trias works all over Germany. Collaborative housing is a steadily rising topic.
The strongest movement probably is "living in the elder stage". Many
groups look for an ideal of multi-generation-project.
Politicly seen there ist a lot of sympathy however few financial support. By
saving money in the field of care, supporting single mother or single father
situations, neighborhood work, helping immigrants or giving private lessons
to pupils, projects claim to be socially helpful and saving money for society.
There is however no adressee in the political and social system of Germany that
would take over responsibility in giving a financial support to these efforts.
Strategy:
Stiftung trias (trias foundation) ist not only working with income of
its assets. In our statutes we lined out, that received long term funds
should primarily be invested in land for collaborative housing
projects. Investing the money gives some financial support for the
groups, takes land out of speculation and secures a steadily income for
the foundation. The land-lease-contract also secures the aims of the
projects, as the land is only given to them by the foundation for a
fixed purpose (like living an art, living for elder people...).
Cooperating with the foundation in this way, members of the groups an
donators do not only support their own projects but the foundation and
therefore future projects as well.
